Last night, Gill and I attended the WOS Awards Concert at the Prince of Wales Theatre. That theatre certainly brought back a few memories!
We had tickets for last year's concert but I was still not well enough to attend so Gill's husband Colin went with her in my place. They had such a good time that even knowing Michael wouldn't be in attendance this year we decided to go.
Anyway, we arrived in good time but then it took us 20 minutes to drive round the block to get in the car park because of road works! Never mind we still had time for a quick bite in The Stockpot, an old favourite of our's from Phantom and Aspects days. The concert was due to start at 7pm but when we arrived at about ten to there were still crowds in the foyer and also outside on the pavement watching the stars arrive.
It was a fabulous award/concert ceremony with quite a few face/names that I recognised. One of the frustrations of my illness is still not being able to recall everything like I did before. Gill has to remind me and then I can usual remember some of it. I did recognise Sheila Hancock straightaway and sitting right in front of us Gill told me it was Eddie Izzard. I knew the name but wouldn't have recognised him. He was the first person to be awarded so left his seat and went on stage to collect his trophy and say thank you. The person with him left her seat once Eddie walked into the wings and neither of them came back - so that gave us a lovely view of the stage.
It finished at 10pm and we were home just before midnight, which doesn't happen very often after a trip to London!
Love
